The glass half full crowd will point to the fact that the Red Sox opened up a three-game lead in the division race over the Rays this past weekend. The soulless, half empty people will say that Boston is on the verge of a slump, having dropped three-of-four to the Royals this past weekend.

No matter which way you go, one thing is certain: Every series from here on out is a big one in the Sox’s quest to play October baseball. John Farrell’s crew opens up a three-game set tonight in Toronto before returning home to face the Yankees (possibly with a chance to bury them for good in 2013) this weekend.

Here are the upcoming pitching matchups:

Tuesday, Aug. 13 at Toronto – Ryan Dempster (6-8, 4.67) vs. Todd Redmond (1-1, 4.22)

Wednesday, Aug. 14 at Toronto - Jon Lester (10-7, 4.37) vs. Josh Johnson (2-8, 6.20)

Thursday, Aug. 15 at Toronto – Jake Peavy (9-4, 4.50) vs. Mark Buehrle (8-7, 4.43)
