The Yankees have made it official: They will celebrate their captain’s departure on Sept. 7.

The team announced Friday they will hold a retirement celebration for shortstop Derek Jeter before a game against the Royals on the second-to-last homestand of the season.

Details of the ceremony have not been released, but fans will receive a commemorative coin before the 1 p.m. start.

The cheapest ticket on StubHub for the Sept. 7 game are already going for $219. Tickets can be had for $21 at the game just one day prior.

The celebration date is a bit of a strange on since it also coincides with the first day of the NFL season. The Jets open the season with a game at home against the Raiders at 1 p.m. The Giants actually open the season a day later on Monday Night Football at Detroit.

Last season, Mariano Rivera was honored with a plaque in Monument Park during a celebration in the final weeks of his career. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see Jeter immediately honored in the same way.

The Yankees’ final homestand comes Sept. 18 to Sept. 25 against the Blue Jays and Orioles. Tickets for Jeter’s final home game against the Orioles on Sept. 25, a Thursday, also start at $219 on StubHub.

The Yankees finish their regular season with a road trip to Boston.

Of course, a spot in the playoffs would mean at least a couple more home games before Jeter’s career came to a close. Jeter is hitting .275 with two homers and 25 RBIs in his final season.
