Celtics drop close one to Warriors for seventh straight loss

The Celtics knew their West Coast swing would be tough, but maybe not this tough as Stephen Curry’s jumper with 2.1 seconds left gave the Warriors a 99-97 win over the C’s Friday night in Golden State. It was the seventh straight loss for the Celtics and they have now lost 10 of their last 11. On the other side, Golden State has now won 11 of their last 12.

The C’s led by two at the half, but trailed by five going into the fourth coming back, forcing the game to come down to the last possession. Gerald Wallace had a chance to win it for the Celtics at the buzzer, but his three-pointer was off the mark. Jeff Green led the team with 24 points followed by Jared Sullinger who added 21 off the bench.

Andre Iguodala was the Warriors leading scorer finishing with 22 points.

There is no rest for the C’s as they will be back in action Saturday night (10:00, CSNNE) in Portland against the Trail Blazers.

What they’ll be saying: The Celtics put up a good fight against the red-hot Warriors, but couldn’t pull off the upset on the road. Saturday’s game won’t be any easier as the Trail Blazers enter the game as one of the league’s best with a 27-9 record. That will be the last game on the brutal West Coast swing and the C’s will return home to hopefully get back on the winning track.
