The Sixers didn’t draft Tennessee’s Jordan McRae, but they traded for his rights on draft night from the Spurs.

Maybe the Sixers were on to something.

Though they are only Summer League games, many NBA players are able to crack a roster spot and make a living by earning their way onto a team (like Temple alum Dionte Christmas, who did it with the Suns last summer).

The 6-foot-6 guard has been an offensive powerhouse thus far in Orlando and Las Vegas, most recently posting 21 points in Tuesday’s game against the Suns.

Through three games he is averaging over 19 points per game.

McRae was lights out from the field, making 7 of 11 and going 3 for 4 from three-point range.

But the guard could be joining a list of Sixers he doesn’t want to — the injured reserve.

With just 2:25 to play, McRae went down under the Phoenix basket Tuesday and was helped off with a left ankle sprain.

He will sit out the next few for the 76ers, but a full diagnosis is not yet known.
