Playing the Field: Joe Flacco is f–king excited

We bleepin' won the Super Bowl!
We bleepin’ won the Super Bowl!

If you watched Super Bowl XLVII — and chances are you did thanks to its record ratings — then you probably were impressed with Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco.

Turns out, he was pretty impressed too. So impressed in fact that he couldn’t resist dropping an f-bomb right on national TV to 100 million people. Oops.

Warning: Adult language … obviously.

That was Flacco saying “Holy s–t, f–king awesome” to his lineman Marshall Yanda if you couldn’t hear it.

And of course those bastions of good taste, the Parents Television Council, has already come out and criticized CBS for airing Flacco’s potty mouth.

“Despite empty assurance after empty assurance from the broadcast networks that they would never air indecent material, especially during the Super Bowl, it has happened again,” PTC president Tim Winter said in a statement. “No one should be surprised that a jubilant quarterback might use profane language while celebrating a career-defining win, but that is precisely the reason why CBS should have taken precautions. Joe Flacco’s use of the f-word, while understandable, does not absolve CBS of its legal obligation to prevent profane language from being broadcast — especially during something as uniquely pervasive as the Super Bowl.”

Tough talk from Mr. Winter. Because I’m sure kids at school have never heard someone drop an f-bomb or two in the hallways.

Of course Winter is referring to Janet Jackson’s NippleGate incident in 2004 when he mentions networks airing indecent material again. Get over it, pal. Your child hears worse language in school everyday of the week. Here, enjoy this bit of nostalgia:
