The Jets are set to host one of the most high-profile prospects in the NFL draft — West Virginia quarterback Geno Smith.

A team source tells Metro that Smith will arrive on Wednesday and meet with the team and will stay overnight in a hotel, meeting again with management and the coaching staff on Thursday. Smith is regarded as the top quarterback in the draft after a prolific senior season with the Mountaineers where he completed 72 percent of his passes for 4,205 yards with 42 touchdowns and just six interceptions.

A consensus Top-10 pick, Smith is a popular choice to fall to the Jets at the No. 9 pick. The last time the Jets took a quarterback in the first round of the draft was in 2009 when they traded up to take Mark Sanchez with the No. 5 pick.

Currently, the Jets have Sanchez on the roster along with the recently signed David Garrard. Tim Tebow and Greg McElroy return from last year, as well as Chris Simms, who was re-signed this offseason after being cut during training camp.

Last week, Pro Football Weekly called Smith “not a student of the game” in a controversial analysis by draft expert Nolan Nawrocki.

As first reported by Metro on March 27, the Jets also hosted Miami (Ohio) quarterback Zac Dysert this week.

The Jets also will host several other players this week, including a handful of Rutgers players. As reported by Metro on Monday, running back Jawan Jamison and wide receiver Mark Harrison will meet with the team. In addition, a team source said All-Big East linebacker Khaseem Greene and All-Big East cornerback Logan Ryan will visit the Jets this week, as will tight end D.C. Jefferson.

The source also said that UConn wide receiver and kick returner Nick Williams, as well as Fordham kicker Pat Murray will visit this week as well.
