FOX, the channel airing Super Bowl XLVIII, isn’t the only “Fox” with millions riding on the big game.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Sunday morning, just hours before the kickoff, Broncos head coach John Fox would earn a $1 million bonus if he wins the Super Bowl.

It’s not unusual for coaches, or players, to have incentives in their contracts, but that’s a HUGE one right there. Fox signed a four-year deal in 2011 and makes about $3.5 million per year. That’s actually a pretty small deal compared to many coaches in the league. Saints head coach Sean Payton makes $8 million per year to lead NFL coaches and Patriots head coach Bill Belichick is second at $7.5 million per year.

Even Pete Carroll, Fox’s opposite on the sideline Sunday, makes $7 million per year.

The league average is about $4.6 million, according to coacheshotseat.com.

So yeah, a $1 million bonus would be a huge deal to Fox. On the other hand, he is approaching the final year of his contract and is reportedly in line to sign a contract extension to avoid lame-duck status post-Super Bowl — win or lose.

As various degenerates have pointed out, Fox could actually assure himself of a $500,000 bonus, by betting on (fading is the gambling term) the Seahawks to win the game. Of course, he’d assure himself of being expelled from the league if it was ever found out he did.
