VIDEO: New York Jets accept Ice Bucket Challenge

The New York Jets stepped up to the challenge from the New England Patriots and Jimmy Fallon, and followed through on the Ice Bucket Challenge Wednesday on the last day of training camp in Cortland, New York.

But of course they couldn’t just use a couple buckets, not to douse an entire team.

So after the ice buckets were poured on general manager John Idzik and head coach Rex Ryan, the whole team got doused by the fire crew from Cortlandville, New York.

Ryan even managed to get in a dig at former assistant Mike Pettine, who is now head coach of the Browns. Ryan issued a challenge to the Browns to take part, joking they should “take a page from our playbook” — a reference to Pettine’s statement earlier this offseason that the Patriots were given a copy of the Jets playbook by Nick Saban after the Alabama coach visited Jets camp a couple years ago.

Ryan also challenged the New York Mets and New York Yankees to take part in the Ice Bucket Challenge. He didn’t have to worry about nominating the New York Giants, as owner John Mara already did it last week with a little help from Pro Bowl receiver Victor Cruz.

Not only was the team hit from above with the hose, the whole staff in Cortland ran for cover as the water rained down on them.

The Ice Bucket Challenge has flooded (pun intended) social media over the last few weeks in a bid to raise money for ALS research. The disease, also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease, has affected my family personally, so it’s nice to see the awful illness getting some attention and lots of money raised to battle it.
