Bruins bury Hurricanes with 6-2 win

Apparently all it takes is a visit from the Carolina Hurricanes for the Bruins’ slumbering offense to spring to life.

Boston (25-9-4) scored a season-high in goals as it skated to an easy 6-2 win over Carolina (16-20-2) Monday at TD Garden. The margin of victory was the largest of the season for the B’s and that is still somewhat misleading: they were up 5-0 before the Hurricanes scored twice in garbage time, but Tuukka Rask (17-6-4) also made a season-high 40 saves.

Eleven Bruins got on the scoresheet, including six with multiple points, led by Dennis Seidenberg (career-high three assists). Brad Marchand scored twice while Andrew Ference and Rich Peverley had a goal and an assist, then Jaromir Jagr and Gregory Campbell put up a pair of assists. Claude Julien’s new lines worked right away as Boston scored three goals in the first period and chased Carolina starting goaltender Justin Peters after 7:58 (two goals).

Peverley followed his own rebound for the first goal then Marchand notched his two goals in a row. Ference deflected a shot off his body and Jordan Caron scored his first goal of the season in the second period before Patrick Dwyer saved some embarrassment for the Hurricanes (who’ve lost five straight) with a goal in the third period. Drayson Bowman added another tally for Carolina but Nathan Horton gave Boston the final strike with a tip-in late in the third period.

This was the start of three games in four nights as Boston travels to New Jersey (15-14-10) on Wednesday (7:30 p.m., NBCSN) then hosts the Islanders (19-16-4) on Thursday (7 p.m., NESN). Every point is precious for the B’s since there are only 10 games left in the regular season.
