Bruins fall back in division standings in loss to Caps
The Bruins (28-13-6) continue to flounder in their quest to win the Northeast Division as they fell to Washington (27-18-3), 3-2, Saturday night in D.C. and fell a game behind the Canadiens in the division standings with one game to play.
If the B’s can grab a win on Sunday against Ottawa, they will win the division and the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs, which begin Wednesday. A loss to the Senators will result in a No. 4 seeding as Montreal will take the No. 2 slot.
The Bruins had taken a 2-0 lead over Washington as Milan Lucic and Andrew Ference each found the net in the first two periods. But a pair of goals by the Caps’ Mike Green in the third period and an OT goal by Eric Fehr gave Washington the victory.
