Bruins-Blackhawks Game 6 notes
Notes coming out of Bruins’ and Blackhawks’ camps as of Monday morning, ahead of Monday night’s Game 6 (8 p.m., NBC):
- The Bruins are said to be ‘encouraged’ by Patrice Bergeron’s progress despite him not being at Monday morning’s skate. Boston has not released a definitive statement on Bergeron’s injury, calling it a “body injury” and saying that he’s “day-to-day.” A report Sunday said that Bergeron is dealing with a spleen injury but that has not been confirmed.
- The Blackhawks are dealing with a potential big loss of their own as Jonathan Toews hit his head on the ice after a crushing blow from Johnny Boychuk in Game 5. Chicago head coach Joel Quenneville was “optimistic” that Toews would play in Game 6.
- Boychuk will not be disciplined for the hit on Toews, per ruling by the NHL. Said Bruins head coach Claude Julien: “I think they said it was clean, wasn’t it? Then I agree with them. I’m not going to hide from that. If it wasn’t a clean hit, I’d have been a guy that supported those kind of things that we need to get out of the game. But it was a clean hit.”
