The Rangers jumped out to a 2-0 lead early in the first period for the second straight game. This time, they held on.

New York earned a 4-1 win over the Flyers in Game 3 to recapture home-ice advantage and take a 2-1 series lead.

“You don’t really think about home ice or playing on the road; you just think about winning,” goaltender Henrik Lundqvist said. “Tonight we went in here, and we wanted to play a really strong game. We felt like we could play a little bit better than we did last game, and we needed everyone to step up, and we did as a group. It was a great team win.”

Martin St. Louis looked much more like the player he was for Tampa Bay than post-trade with his second postseason goal and an assist on Derek Stepan’s game-opening goal.

But just like Game 2 the Flyers pulled to within one goal late in the first period, this time on a score by former Islanders captain Mark Streit with 2:42 left in the period.

The Rangers settled in for the second period, adding to the lead on a goal by Dan Girardi. Daniel Carcillo added the final goal, moments after leaving the box on a questionable hooking penalty, with 10 minutes left in the game.

Lundqvist made 31 saves, while the defense killed all five Flyers power plays.

Game 4 is Friday night at 7 p.m. in Philadelphia.
