In a low-scoring but intense game, Canada defeated the U.S. 1-0 in the men’s hockey semifinal to advance to the gold medal game against Sweden.

Team USA will play Finland for a chance at a bronze medal.

Jamie Benn scored the game’s lone goal for Canada. His goal came less than two minutes into the second period, and Canada’s defense stifled the Americans for the rest of the game. Goaltender Carey Price made 31 saves to secure Canada’s shutout.

Jonathan Quick played almost as well as Price, making 36 saves, but Team USA’s offense failed to break through the Canadian defense.

Canada, gold medal winners at the 2010 games in Vancouver, will attempt a repeat against Sweden on Sunday. Following its first loss at this year’s Olympics, the U.S. will play Finland on Saturday in the bronze medal matchup.
