Grandson arrested in connection with robbery of Grandma’s house
The grandson of the 94-year-old Mayfair woman who was assaulted and robbed yesterday was arrested in connection with the attack, police said.
A 31-year-old friend of the 27-year-old grandson, who lives on Tyson Avenue, allegedly knocked on Sophie Drobish’s door, at the 2800 block of Unruh Avenue, yesterday morning.
Drobish mistook the 31-year-old friend as her grandson and opened the door, officials said.
The grandson’s friend forced his way inside the woman’s home, threatened her with a syringe, punched her and tied her up with duct tape before leaving with an unknown amount of jewelry.
Drobish’s grandson was apparently waiting nearby in the getaway car while his friend assaulted his grandmother.
Both suspects were arrested later in the day. Police said Drobish’s jewelry and purse were recovered at the grandson’s home.
The men face robbery, burglary, aggravated assault and related charges.
