In its coverage of the government shutdown, the media is being shamelessly partisan in favor of the Democrats and isn’t providing any historical context.
Since 1976, the Democrats have shut down the government 15 times when they controlled the House of Representatives. During the same time period, the Republicans have only shut down the government three times. The Democratic shutdowns were over budget items, including defunding things that they didn’t like (sound familiar?).
But most of the public doesn’t know any of this, because the media won’t explain any of it. The media would rather act as Democratic cheerleaders, and run stories about how only evil Republicans want to shut down the government to try and hurt people.
