Re: ‘Eminem doesn’t mean for gay slurs to insult gay people’ (Metro, Nov. 6)
I can relate to Eminem’s frustration at wanting to be free to say stuff that offends people. It is so unfortunate that words have meanings and even more so that when put to musical rhythm, they internalize so much more effectively. I would personally love to have a plethora of insulting words and phrases which don’t insult the genitalia or the uses and users thereof. It’s terrible that Eminem can’t say all those hurtful, vicious, mean-spirited words without offending people.
I guess if he really truly and genuinely doesn’t intend harm and isn’t in denial, as I would be if I said I didn’t intend redundancy just there, he could choose other words and I support his freedom to do so.
