The woman who was found dead on the side of a Pennsylvania road on Valentine’s Day has been identified by police as a woman from Philadelphia, Philly.com reported.
Investigators believe the woman, whose body was found with no obvious signs of trauma on the remote Plainfield Road in Ferguson Township, is 35-year-old Corinne Pena.
An autopsy failed to reveal a cause of death so toxicology tests were ordered, the results of which won’t be available for some time, according to PhillyVoice.
The case is puzzling for police as Pena showed no signs of walking to the spot where she was found. Investigators reportedly believe she was driven to the remote spot.
“Pena, who was wearing just gray sweatpants and a thermal shirt when she was found, remained unidentified for a few days,” Philly.com reported. “Investigators released several photos of her distinctive tattoos and a wedding band, which helped them identify her. Pena married a woman from Lancaster last May, according to her Facebook page.”
