Today is National Coffee Day all around the world. To celebrate this year, why not change up your usual coffee routine? Here are four indie coffeeshops to feed your morning caffeine fix that are super local and will meet the standards of the most discerning coffee lover.
700 Sansom St.
If you’re craving a stellar cup of coffee on Jewelers' Row, look no further than Arterial Agents, a new “coffee and shop” that opened earlier this year. Aside from their usual offerings, they just debuted a Pumpkin Spice Latte. Grab a cozy cup and head to Washington Square Park to take in the changing foliage.
1523 E. Susquehanna Ave.
ReAnimator has two locations now but their Fishtown location is the original and well worth a visit. Sourcing from coffee producers all over the world, they stock a range of delectable roasts. To celebrate National Coffee Day, they are offering 25 percent off the products on their website. There’s also a special autumn blend that was just released
207 S. Sydenham St.
If you’re not super familiar with Philly, you might have trouble finding this coffeeshop at first, given it’s hidden down a side street. However, it’s no secret amongst locals, and finding a coveted seat at anytime of day is a triumph. Founded in 2010, Elixr is one of Philly’s indie coffee treasures. Check out their new mural being unveiled this Saturday as you sip some espresso.
18 S. Third St.
This Old City coffeeshop has a minimalist, fresh design that makes it perfect for getting work done. What’s more, their coffee is lovingly prepared with little works of art on lattes. While they don’t offer soy, their almond lattes are on point and they even have small, locally sourced bites available in case you’re feeling peckish.
Philly-based coffee chain Saxbys is having an Instagram contest to celebrate National Coffee Day and you could win a free week of coffee if selected.
