A woman is dead after a man, who police confirmed was her husband, allegedly fired a crossbow through her chest in a Northeast Philadelphia home.

Philadelphia police said Pamela Nightlinger, 42, collapsed in her neighbor's doorway in a pool of blood around 9:20 p.m. Sunday, 6ABC reported. Cops said the arrow's bolt penetrated her body, went through a couch and into the wall.

According to police Capt. Anthony Ginaldi, police had been called to the house, on the 3100 block of Willits Road, in the past on domestic calls.

The woman was rushed to Aria Health Torresdale hospital, where she died a short time later.

The man, 41, who was previously identified as Nightlinger's boyfriend, has been taken into police custody. His identity remains unknown. There is no word on a possible motive.
