Philadelphia

It’s Friday, so here’s your Rebecca Black update!

And apologies come afterwards.

It’s finally Friday, so you know what that means: Rebecca Black‘s week of Internet Fame is climaxing today. (Fun, fun, fun, fun, fun.)

The 13-year-old wannabe pop star has heard all those mean things you wrote online about her, and she wants you to know that it’s not cool.

In her first (!) interview about her new-found fame, Black opened up to the Daily Beast:

“Those hurtful comments really shocked me,” Black said yesterday in her first interview since the song came to dominate a certain quadrant of popular culture and crack the iTunes Top 100 singles chart this week, besting the likes of Bruno Mars and Justin Bieber. “At times, it feels like I’m being cyberbullied.”

(This is about where many media outlets started feeling guilty. Not us! We said nice-ish things about it.)

Black’s media tour continued today, with an appearance on "Good Morning America," in which Diane Sawyer gave Black the full sympathy treatment:

Still feeling bad about being mean to this poor 13-year-old girl? You should! Even Chris Brown — who may be one of the worst people in the world — has too much pride to make fun of her. (via The A.V. Club)
