As the world goes apeshit with Nirvana fever, celebrating the 20th anniversary of “Nevermind,” this is an important mash-up. It is almost frustrating to hear how good and versatile Cobain’s voice can be against different instrumentation, and it’s hard not to imagine how great it would sound if he were making music right now. Using a lesser known horn-heavy song by the Arcade Fire as a backdrop to paint the angsty melody against, Galway DJ Phil RetroSpector has created something beyond quirky. It’s actually moving.
