Sesame Street’s YouTube hacked with porn

The Sesame Street YouTube channel proved to be a bit too grown-up for its own good Sunday: It was hacked with porn, according to CNN.

The channel has since been taken down, but when people logged onto the Sesame Street channel, they were greeted with sexually explicit material — not Muppets. (Unless the Swedish Chef has a secret side career?)

“YouTube’s Community Guidelines prohibit graphic content,” a YouTube representative said to CNN. “As always, we remove inappropriate material as soon as we are made aware of it.”

Sesame Workshop issued this apology: “Our channel was compromised and we are presently working with YouTube/Google to restore our original content. We always strive to provide age-appropriate content for our viewers and hope to resolve this problem quickly.”

Sesame Street has been at the center of some unusual attention lately, first as it was debated as the perfect spot for a gay marriage between Bert and Ernie and later with the Twitter account #OccupySesameStreet, created as a spoof on the Occupy Wall Street movement.
