Song Therapy: Jack White’s U2 cover will get your ‘Achtung’

Pick up Q when you Qan!

“Love Is Blindness” by Jack White
For the 20th anniversary of the release of U2’s classic album, “Actung Baby,” British music mag Q is publishing a compilation of covers of each track. Glasvegas, Patti Smith and The Killers are among the contributors. Jack White does a great re-imagining of the haunting final track of the album. The Robert Plant scream is wisely applied as are those raw guitar leads that are the aural equivalent of getting a bunch of splinters at once. Yowch! He takes the energy level up from the original, quieter rendition, and yet he brings his trademark dirty Delta blues thing into it in a way that’s not forced. We’ll be stalking the local B&N waiting for this compilation to hit U.S. shores.
