The Ro-Co Review: ‘Ass Backwards’ is a trip worth taking

Casey Rose Wilson, Chris Nelson, June Raphael, and Paul Scheer try to keep their heads on straight in “Ass Backwards.”

Welcome to the first episode of The Ro-Co Review on Metro, the comedy podcast where Nate Shelkey and Natasha Levinger are going to tell you what’s what about upcoming romantic comedies. Just think: You don’t to have sit through these if they’re bad, because they do it for you! You’ll know if it’s a good movie for taking your honey, and whether the sex scenes are hot or disappointing. How great is that?

This week we’re on Tash’s couch watching “Ass Backwards,” the new comedy written by and starring Casey Rose Wilson (“Happy Endings”) and June Raphael (“Bride Wars”). Not a straight-up romantic comedy, it’s more of a gal pal road trip romp where the romance is in their friendship for each other. Rounding out the cast are Paul Scheer (“The League”) and Alicia Silverstone. This movie has some hilarious scenes, and though the journey might feel a little long by the end, this trip is worth it.

Some of the important topics we hit include which floor to live on in a cat condo, why Jewish people don’t go camping, Nate’s experience as Annie this Halloween, beauty pageants, the Britney Spears girls-only road trip movie “Crossroads,” egg donors and the introduction of “Stat Man.”
