‘Elf: The Musical’

Everyone’s favorite super-sized North Pole elf is starring in a musical adaptation of the Will Ferrell film. Buddy was raised thinking he’s just like all of Santa’s other helpers — but he soon learns the cold truth. The musical chronicles his adventures in New York City.

Contemporary dance troupe Philadanco performs its annual winter concert, this time paying tribute to renowned choreographer Christopher Huggins. Dancers will perform excerpts from some of Huggins’ best-known works, such as “Blue,” “The List” and “The Big Bang!”

‘Nutcracker 1776’

The Rock School of Dance Education’s version of “The Nutcracker” is not exactly what you’d call traditional. “Nutcracker 1776” takes place in the Colonial era, with George Washington, Betsy Ross and a Benjamin Franklin who performs fire tricks. If you can’t make it Saturday, you have another chance to see it the following weekend at the Haverford School.


Running of the Santas

The self-proclaimed “world’s naughtiest pub crawl” is a day of infinite libations, live music and lots of white beards. The crawl begins at Finnigan’s Wake and ends with a party at the Electric Factory, with more than 8,000 “Santas” expected to participate. Proceeds go to charity.

A Brandywine Christmas

The whole family can enjoy this holiday exhibit, featuring dozens of rare antique dolls and whimsical critters made from natural materials. While you marvel at the handcrafted creations throughout the exhibit, a model train will whiz along nearly 2,000 feet of track in an expansive display.


5th Annual Winter Beer Festival

Toast to the holiday season with more than 50 winter brews from 30+ craft breweries, such as Stone Brewing Company, Elysian Brewing Company and Unibroue.
