‘The Classic Cocktail Bible’ helps beginner bartenders
Those who are deemed mixologists know that the title can carry lofty expectations. For aspiring bartenders, “The Classic Cocktail Bible” provides the blueprint to concocting new takes on old favorites.
“New drinks are emerging all the time — new twists on the classics,” says the book’s editor, Sarah Ford. “These are exciting and delicious.”
Her goal for the book was to have “something for everyone,” she says: “I wanted to make the book as comprehensive as possible.”
And it does — with exotic, international drinks, like the Floreciente from Brazil, a cool tequila cocktail which Ford says is perfect for the summer. Recipes like this mingle with directions for making the perfect whiskey sour or Cosmo. Each liquor has its own subsection in the guide, with select drinks including the location and history behind their creation.

Recipe: Kiwi Caipiroska

½ kiwi, peeled
½ lime, cut into wedges
2 teaspoons sugar syrup
2 measures vodka
2 teaspoons kiwi schnapps
Directions: Add kiwi, lime wedges and sugar syrup into a rocks glass and muddle together. Fill glass with crushed ice and pour over the vodka and stir. Add more ice then drizzle schnapps over the surface.
