The best dressed at the 2014 Oscars

Rain did not stop the beautiful people from bringing their red carpet A-game to the Academy Awards on Sunday night.

Olivia Wilde blew us away early on. The pregnant actress, a little further along than when we saw her at the Golden Globes — when she revolutionized fancy maternitywear for pregnant ladies everywhere in a sexy green Gucci column — chose a more elegant gown for the Oscars. Wilde wore a high-neck black and white Valentino that reminded us a bit of Audrey Hepburn in “Breakfast at Tiffany’s.” Her arm candy, fiancé Jason Sudeikis in Prada, didn’t hurt either.

Amy Adams didn’t give the fans of “American Hustle” what they wanted: a hot plunging neckline. The Best Actress nominee, who styled herself, arrived in a classy and covered up Gucci Premiere sapphire gown.

Fear not fans of a deep V-neck, Lupita Nyong’o, the Cinderella of the Oscars, showed up in a gorgeous baby blue custom-made pleated Prada gown that the actress said reminded her of her home, Nairobi.

Jared Leto was a winner even before stepping into the ceremony, where he grabbed the Best Supporting Actor for his role in “Dallas Buyers Club.” The star looked cool in his white Saint Laurent tux, but it was his perfectly styled tresses (seriously, what products does this man use?!) perfect skin and funny preshow banter (he brought his mom and brother along) that really charmed us.

Jennifer Lawrence brought her best accessory: her graceful fall. The Oscar winner once again tripped while walking in a stunning Christian Dior gown. Only this time it wasn’t while picking up the Best Supporting Actress award, but rather while she was still on the red carpet. Almost cooler than her brushed-back hair and scarlet red peplum gown was her reaction: She just laughed it off.

Charlize Theron has been quiet of late, but the actress made a big splash on the red carpet when she arrived in a dramatic black Christian Dior Couture gown, and ahem, $15 million worth of Harry Winston diamonds. Flossing.
