The Word: Is Taylor Swift forming the ultimate in crowd?
Taylor Swift gets a lot of press for her revolving door of celebrity boyfriends. But she seems to have just as strong a need to surround herself with famous women.
Taylor has more famous friends than just about anyone, it seems, and they’re a diverse group. The only thing they have in common: They’re all female stars under 30 or so. Taylor lunched with “Girls” creator Lena Dunham and her boyfriend, Fun guitarist Jack Antonoff over Memorial Day weekend in Rhode Island, where Swift has a house, according to Life & Style. Other guests spotted hanging out with Taylor included former “Gossip Girl” star Jessica Szohr and 16-year-old “Romeo and Juliet” actress Hailee Steinfeld.
And that’s just this weekend! Back in Hollywood, the country-pop star is besties with Selena Gomez, and she reportedly comforted Kristen Stewart after her recent breakup with Robert Pattinson. It’s kind of cool that Taylor draws these diverse women together, actually. It often appears that men in Hollywood form power friendships, like George Clooney and Brad Pitt, while women seem to exist in their own little bubble.
On the other hand, the existence of this ultimate megaclique makes me feel like I’m back in high school and there’s a sleepover this weekend no one’s telling me about. Invite me, Taylor. I’m fun. Even if I’m not in Fun.
