The Word: Selena Gomez has a baby sister

After nearly 21 years as an only child, Selena Gomez finally has a younger sibling to boss around. Her mom, Mandy Cornett, just gave birth to a daughter with her husband, Brian Teefey, according to E! Online.

Selena’s pal Demi Lovato broke the news of the baby’s arrival, tweeting, “@selenagomez IS A BIG SISTER!!!!!! Everyone congratulate her and her family!!!!!! #CONGRATSSELENA!!!!”

This is the first sibling for Selena, whose parents divorced when she was five years old. The singer will be 21 years old in July, making the age gap between her and her new sister almost five years greater than that between Selena and her mother, who had her at age 16.

No word yet on what the baby girl’s name is. No word, either, on whether Disney has managed to sign the sure-to-be-talented tot to a sitcom yet.

Selena Gomez’s friends may not be huge fans of her on-again, off-again gentleman caller Justin Bieber, but she seems to get along just fine with his pals.

The singer, 20, was spotted recently dining with Justin’s friend Jaden Smith, 14, son of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith, according to E! Online. Selena hid her face as paparazzi snapped photos of the pair leaving the restaurant. But we figured out it was her anyway. Sorry, we gossip writers are good at that.
