The Word: Beyonce and Solange did not attend their father’s wedding

Did you watch “Life Is But a Dream,” the HBO documentary about how Beyonce became the mega-star she is? The biggest take-away was how rigid of a father and manager Mathew Knowles was to his daughters.

After Beyonce and Destiny’s Child lost on “Star Search,” he quit his job to oversee the act and developed a pop “boot camp” of sorts for the girls. One daily, early-morning task he made them do was to jog while singing, in order to develop the pipes and stamina needed to perform in arenas. Mathew Knowles is probably why Beyonce is Beyonce.

But that doesn’t mean she has to go to his wedding.

Papa Knowles married Gena Avery in Atlanta last Sunday but his two daughters, Beyonce and Solange, did not go. “Unfortunately, Beyonce and Solange had previous engagements which made it impossible for them to attend,” Mathew Knowles told TMZ.com.

This snub further solidifies the rumors that Beyonce is on the outs with her dad. Beyonce famously fired him as her manager in 2011. The fact that Knowles fathered a child out of wedlock in 2009 while still married to Tina Knowles, thus ending their 31-year-marriage (their divorce was finalized in 2011), also probably didn’t help matters.

Let’s hope that when his love child gets super famous, he or she will attend Knowles’ next wedding.
