The Word: Mariah Carey rushed to hospital after accident on set
Mariah Carey was rushed to the hospital yesterday night after injuring her shoulder.
The singer was filming a new music video for a remix of her song #Beautiful, directed by her husband Nick Cannon. While on set in Chelsea at Artichoke Pizza, she dislocated her shoulder, and she was rushed to the Hospital for Special Surgery, where it was reset. The injury wasn’t serious. “She was taken to hospital late last night, where doctors reset her shoulder. She is fine and is recovering at home,” her rep told the New York Post.
If you were planning to attend Mariah’s free Hurricane Sandy benefit concert in Central Park, not to worry – the star still expects to be there, albeit with her arm in a sling.
Mariah Carey will not be returning to “American Idol” next season as a judge, she announced Thursday afternoon. Not to be outdone, her co-star (and occasional sparring partner) Nicki Minaj also announced her exit a few hours later.
Mariah and Nicki had some personality clashes early in the show, but seemed to get along better by the end — probably to the consternation of “Idol” producers, since the show has always seemed to benefit from a bit of friction between judges.
