The Word: Amanda Bynes’ parents will request a conservatorship
It’s the hippest accessory for the happening former teen star. Not a Birkin bag or a teacup poodle: a legal document placing her into the custody of her parents.
Amanda Bynes’ parents have reportedly decided it’s time to go the Spears family route. After Amanda started a fire in their Thousand Oaks neighborhood, resulting in her being placed under an involuntary psychiatric hold, her mother and father will petition the court tomorrow to place her under their conservatorship, which would give them control of her professional and personal affairs for as long as the court deems it necessary.
This seems like a sad but necessary step for the actress, whose meltdown has gone from amusing to genuinely frightening this summer. Hopefully they can get her back on her feet. I am ashamed to admit, however, that a little part of me thought, “Her Twitter feed is about to get a lot less interesting.”
The former actress is now being hospitalized for setting a fire in the driveway of a stranger’s home in Thousand Oaks, Calif. The cops investigated the former child star-turned-Gremlin and determined she needed to be hospitalized on a 5150 hold, which is an involuntary hospitalization for mental evaluation lasting 72 hours. So this is good news. Maybe she will now get the help she needs?
