The Word: Does Lamar Odom have a drug problem?

What’s going on in Kardashianland?

The kind of rumors that have surfaced over the last few days — that Khloe Kardashian kicked husband Lamar Odom out of the house, that he’s gone missing, that he’s got a serious addiction to crack, or prescription pills, or whatever — would normally be squashed immediately.

Instead, there’s been ominous silence from the Kardashian camp, except for one vague, profane tweet from Khloe.

So something’s up, and ESPN thinks they know what it is: A source tells them that Odom is in a Los Angeles hotel, where friends are trying to get him help for an unspecified drug problem. Odom’s agent would not confirm this, but he did tell the network that his client is not MIA. ”Lamar is not missing. His wife knows exactly where he is,” he said.

Well… that’s good, at least. It’s always weird to watch the Kardashians try to keep something private. I’m all ready to get annoyed at them for being deceptive, until I realize that something like an attempt to help a family member with a drug problem is legit none of my business. I wouldn’t want their job for all the Kanyes in the world.

TMZ reported over the weekend that Odom has been using crack cocaine for two years, and it is putting a serious crimp in his made-for-TV marriage. I didn’t know there was a problem with said marriage, but Odom was apparently tossed out of his house by his wife when he refused an intervention a few weeks ago.

He was reportedly treated in a rehab facility last year and kept himself under control during the NBA season.
