Do we still care about “50 Shades”? I feel like 2011′s publishing phenom has already been cast aside to pop culture’s 99 cent bin. But then again, I’ve doubted the force that is middle-aged Suburban women who live vicariously through poorly-written fictional characters (See: “Twilight,” “The Da Vinci Code”) for some time.

If you find yourself in the die-hard “50 Shades” category, you’ll be happy to know that casting for the 2014 film adaptation has been announced. On Monday, author E.L. James Tweeted to her 300,000-plus followers, “I am delighted to let you know that the lovely Dakota Johnson has agreed to be our Anastasia in the film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey.” Less than an hour later, James announced that “Sons of Anarchy” star Charlie Hunnam will be the male lead. “The gorgeous and talented Charlie Hunnam will be Christian Grey in the film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey,” she tweeted.

Johnson has some Hollywood pedigree — her mother is Melanie Griffith and her dad is Don Johnson. She was on the Fox sitcom “Ben and Kate” as well as the Oscar-winning “The Social Network.” And in addition to “Sons,” Hunnam (whose last name sounds like a sex act found in the pages of “50 Shades”, amiright?) was just recently in this summer’s “Pacific Rim.”
