The Word: Seth Green’s tactic for a happier world

Seth Green, an actor who is generally well-liked, is hard at work on “Dads,” a sitcom people hate.

How does he deal with this stress? By putting googly eyes on things.

Seth was on Conan last night, where he explained that his preferred way to unwind is to make the world look like it’s made of happy monster faces. “Every once in a while just for fun, I will carry some googly eyes in public and just like, stick them on stuff in public,” he said. “Like gas tanks or doorknobs or whatever.”

Or you could put googly eyes over actual human eyes, which is what he, Conan, and Andy proceeded to do. It might be the most hilariously uncanny-valleyish thing I’ve ever observed. Seeing googly eyes stare out of Conan’s face is weirdly spot-on.

“Dads” has only aired one episode and it’s already getting a lot of flack for being offensive — but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. The show stars Seth (whose choice in mostly stinker roles is a little offensive) and Giovanni Ribisi (who makes up for it) as business partners whose meddling old pops return to mess with their lives.
