The Word: Is Prince Harry about to get engaged to Cressida Bonas?

Prince Harry is the lone bachelor among Britain’s royal family.

Is the last unattached royal Brit of our time about to go off the market?

Prince Harry, William’s younger brother and fourth in line for the British throne, is said to be close to proposing to his girlfriend, Cressida Bonas.

“Harry never stops talking about marriage and children, and she has now got used to the idea,” a friend of Cressida’s tells the Telegraph. “The wedding is likely to take place next year.”

Cressida, 24, is said to have resisted 29-year-old Harry’s pleas to head down the aisle for some time — she felt that she was too young to marry anyone, especially a royal marriage with all that it entails. But he’s reportedly wearing her down, and they might get married next year.

At least Cressida might be better prepared for the pressures of princesshood than her potential sister-in-law was. Unlike commoner Kate Middleton, Cressida comes from noble stock herself: Her mother is Lady Mary-Gaye Curzon, daughter of the 6th Earl Howe.

Harry’s not the only prince who’s settling down: Prince William is ending his military career to be a stay-at-home dad, or at least a stay-closer-to-home dad.

After seven years in the Royal Air Force, the heir to the British throne left last month to focus on his family, his royal duties and his charity work.
