Danse4Nia Repertory Ensemble celebrates its eighth season with an electric, thought-provoking concert that embodies the company’s philosophy and mission of growth, affirmation, and change. Since its inception in April 2006, Danse4Nia Repertory Ensemble, a nonprofit organization, has used dance to foster life-affirming personal, cultural, and social change. Although boldly defined as a contemporary modern dance company, this multi-cultural Ensemble is also well-versed in Ballet, Horton technique, and contemporary jazz.

On March 29 at 7:30 p.m. inside the Kurtz Center for the Performing Arts (on the campus of William Penn Charter), the company features work choreographed by Bill Thomas, Meredith Rainey, Johari Mayfield, and a work in progress created by Itola Byrd. Based in Philadelphia and having performed in prominent venues like Philadelphia’s City Hall, Temple University, and the Barnes Foundation Museum, the Ensemble has been presented on the national stage in venues such as Rutgers University, Newark, NJ; Thelma Hill Performing Arts Center at The Kumble Theatre on the campus of Long Island University, Brooklyn, NY; the Alvin Ailey Citigroup Theatre, New York, NY; and the August Wilson Center, Pittsburgh, PA.

Under the artistic direction of the company’s founder/CEO, Antoinette Coward-Gilmore, Danse4Nia Repertory Ensemble members include: Janelle Ardrey, Cindy Logan, Elizabeth Purnell, Tania Ramos, Jamey L. Rislin, Chijioke Robinson, Blythe Smith, and Kacei Womack. The concert will also feature a special performance by Philadelphia’s own, soul singer Jeremy Isaac and Hangover. Coward-Gilmore will pay tribute and acknowledge the many contributions, including those to the arts, of the late E. Steven Collins, who was a community stalwart and radio professional for many years in this region.

Tickets are $30 in advance and can be purchased online at www.danse4nia.org or call 267-987-5581. Student, senior and group discounts are available.
