VIDEO: Bizarre North Korean animated film depicts U.S. city in flames

A video uploaded to North Korea’s official website, Uriminzokkiri, depicts an American city in flames and under attack.

The clip was posted by the site on YouTube on Saturday. It shows a young man who dreams he is on board a space shuttle, floating in orbit above the Earth. The North said it successfully launched a long-range rocket in December, despite a U.N. resolution that banned the country from developing missile or nuclear technology.

Against the melody of “We Are the World,” the animated film’s main character observes the countries below, including a reunited Korea.

Next, the space ship zooms over a country veiled by an American flag. Buildings are seen burning and explosions are set off incoming missiles.

“Somewhere in the United States, black clouds of smoke are billowing,” the caption says in Korean, according to The Telegraph. “It seems that the nest of wickedness is ablaze with the fire started by itself.”

The video ends with a message: “Despite all kinds of attempts by imperialists to isolate and crush us… never will anyone be able to stop the people marching toward a final victory.”

North Korea is currently threatening to conduct a third nuclear test and retaliate against South Korean for what it deems “hostile” sanctions imposed after its December rocket launch.
