Councilman Jim Kenney, who proposed a bill in January that would end the requirement to arrest offenders in possession of under an ounce of pot, headed the committee on law and government meeting in council chambers Monday.
Council President Darrell Clarke announced Tuesday morning that on May 20 a special election will be held to elect a new body to fill Bill Green’s vacant seat. The seat emptied last month after Green assumed the role as chairman of the School Reform Commission.
City Council on Thursday approved this change to the zoning code, as well as requirements for RCO’s to meet regularly and for developers to notify the group’s of pending projects that would require zoning changes.
A bill approved Tuesday by the Committee on Rules would allow advertising to be placed on any land, building or structure owned or operated by the School District of Philadelphia for six months or longer.
