What’s next for Manny Pacquiao?

Manny Pacquiao.

Manny Pacquiao reaffirmed his status as the pound-for-pound best in the world Saturday night, battering Shane Mosley in a unanimous decision.

The bout was never close. Mosley fought a defensive fight, and Pacquiao did exactly what he needed to do.

So what’s next?

Exactly who “Pacman” faces next is still in the air, but there are two boxers who could potentially give him trouble.

The first — and the less likely opponent — is Floyd Mayweather Jr.

The boxing world has long wanted a superfight between Pacquiao and the unbeaten American, but it’s never come together.

More likely for Pacquiao is a third bout against Juan Manuel Marquez. The pair fought to a draw and a controversial decision win for the Filipino champ.

“If [Floyd] Mayweather doesn’t come to the table, I think Marquez is going to be our next opponent because we are running out of opponents,” Pacquiao’s trainer, Freddie Roach, told Reuters after his fighter’s 14th consecutive victory. “He is sellable. The Mexican market is huge in boxing, and they would love to see that fight one more time.”
