Struggling Flyers raise ticket price for 2012-13

With the NHL playoffs around the corner, the Flyers’ buzz is growing. The trade deadline is looming and everyone wants the latest scoop.

But season-ticket holders aren’t happy. Not only have the Flyers won only two of their last eight home games, but next year it will be more expensive to watch them.

Season-ticket holders were informed that prices will go up next season — $2 in the upper level, $3, $4 or $7 in the lower level. The average ticket price increased by $6 for the 2011-12 season, which had been the Flyers’ first ticket hike in five years.

“I was expecting an increase last year; I was not expecting it to be that large,” said Scott Pringle, 27, of Berkeley Heights, N.J. who is in his fourth season as a season ticket holder. “I’m really surprised and shocked that there’s another increase. I was paying $36 two years ago and now it’s gonna be $45 next season.”
