VIDEO: Sandra Fluke rejects Rush Limbaugh’s apology for calling her a ‘slut’

Sandra Fluke said she did not wish to receive a personal phone call from Rush Limbaugh.

Sandra Fluke made it clear during an appearance on “The View” today that she is not buying Rush Limbaugh’s apology for calling her a “slut.”

The outspoken radio talk show host was widely criticized for the remarks he made when discussing Fluke, a law student who testified before law makers that female students at Georgetown University needed their contraception covered by their healthcare insurance because they can not afford it. He also mocked President Obama for calling Fluke to express his support for her.

Limbaugh apologized for his “insulting word choices” on Saturday, but today Fluke told the hosts of “The View” that she’s not moved by his attempt to patch things up.

“I don’t think that a statement like this issued, saying that his choice of words was not the best, changes anything, and especially when that statement is issued when he’s under significant pressure from his sponsors who have begun to pull their support,” Fluke said.

Several companies, including AOL and Carbonite, have yanked their advertisements from Limbaugh’s program after he suggested Fluke upload videos of her sexual encounters online and said, “What does it say about the college co-ed Fluke who goes before a congressional committee and essentially says that she must be paid to have sex. What does that make her? It makes her a slut, right? Makes her a prostitute. She wants to be paid to have sex.”

“I believe that what it is is an attempt to silence me, to silence the millions of women and men who support them who have been speaking out about this issue and conveying that contraception is an important health care need that they need to have met in an affordable, accessible way,” Fluke said today.

Limbaugh brought up the issue on his show again, once more trying to apologize to Fluke.

“The apology to her over the weekend was sincere,” he said. “It was simply for using inappropriate words in a way I never do.”
