Robertson updates foot injury
The Yankees haven’t sent reliever David Robertson for a second battery of tests on his injured right foot yet, but one person is certainly feeling optimistic — Robertson himself.
Robertson spoke to reporters Friday morning at spring training and said he’s feeling better.
“It feels better today. No new news though,” Robertson said. “Going to take an extra look; get a second opinion just to make sure.”
He downplayed the injury even further.
“The first MRI, they said that there wasn’t anything really wrong,” he said. “They just had some questionable things; just wanted to make sure.
“[There is] no swelling that’s the good thing. They said usually if you do have swelling that means something really happened.”
Robertson admitted he was embarrassed about the whole incident, though he did clear up that he just fell on one stair, not an entire flight. He said yesterday that Mariano Rivera had already given him grief for the accident.
Robertson, 26, had a 1.08
ERA and 1.13 WHIP last season, with 100 strikeouts in just 66 2/3
innings. He made his first career All-Star Game and finished 11th in AL
Cy Young voting.
He made his first and only appearance of spring on March 5, pitching one inning and allowing one run.
