Manti Te’o: Tumblr shows photos of people ‘#Teoing’
If there’s one thing we’ve come to expect after a national scandal like that of Manti Te’o breaks, is a subsequent Tumblr mocking the situation.
News broke Wednesday that Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te’o's heartbreaking story of loss was a hoax. The 22-year-old Mormon and Heisman trophy candidate’s story gained steam last fall as it was widely reported that his grandmother and girlfriend died in a span of six hours this past September.
It turns out, that while Te’o's grandmother did, in fact, pass away, the girlfriend Lennay Kekua never existed, according to a report by Deadspin.com.
Whether this was a sick joke played on Te’o or if the rising football star was in on the hoax still remains a mystery.
Just as fast as the story went viral, so did a Tumblr titled “#Teoing.”
The Tumblr is a collection of images of guys posing with their imaginary girlfriends.
The site even pokes fun at the now infamous photo of Clint Eastwood speaking to an empty chair at the Republican National Convention this past summer claiming it as “The original #Teoing.”
