An elaborate rock climbing gym that is set to open this summer will offer Bostonians a bolder bouldering experience.

“Climbing to us is very inspirational. We hope it enlightens people and breaks down parameters they set for themselves,” said Lance Pinn, co-founder of Brooklyn Boulders Somerville.

The indoor gym’s 38,000-square-foot facility on Tyler Street will feature continuously reset climbing routes, access to a communal workspace for people looking to squeeze a little work into their workouts, weight-training facilities, yoga, slacklining, shopping, a cafe, saunas, artwork and personal training.

Co-founder Jesse Levin, whose motto is “physicality stimulates innovation and creativity,” describes the gym as a unique platform to fuse eclectic interests.

“At its core it’s a rock-climbing facility, and climbing really fosters a sense of community. We’re excited about the cross-pollination,” he said, adding that climbers can expect live music and an impressive attention to detail.

The gym will be roughly twice the size of the company’s original Brooklyn gym, which opened in 2009. There will be a grand opening July 31. In the meantime, employees have been leading hundreds of curious climbers on Hard Hat Tours.

“Right now Boston is the third most popular area in the country for rock climbing,” said Pinn. “If you can climb a ladder, you can climb a rock wall. Climbing is just natural.”

Updates are available on Brooklyn Boulders Somerville’s Facebook page.
