Fans of the viral blog 40 Days of Dating can expect to see their favorite love story play out on the big screen.

Jessica Walsh confirmed on her Facebook page Thursday night that Warner Bros. has acquired the film rights to the project she launched with friend-turned-lover Timothy Goodman.

According to the Deadline.com, director Michael Sucsy, known for “The Vow,” is onboard, as well as “Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist” writer Lorene Scafaria.

The NYC friends launched to fame when they decided to experiment by dating each other for 40 days and share every detail of the experience online in daily posts. Followers of the blog read along as the couple disclosed their affections and annoyances, went to therapy together, took a vacation and became intimate (though not in that order).

Walsh and Goodman hinted at Hollywood potential in a post-project interview with Metro just days after posting the final installment of their blog. In the couple’s 40th blog entry, they revealed they broke up but decided to stay friends.

“We certainly had no idea the blog would go viral, or that there would be so much interest from Hollywood,” Walsh told Metro on Sept. 9. “While exciting, it’s been overwhelming. We are evaluating options, but the most important thing to us is maintaining the integrity and honesty of what we originally created with the blog.”

The pair also decided to collaborate on a book about their experiment.

“Now we’ve become business partners as we’re interested in creating a book about our experience and a web-based community platform for others to participate in this experience,” Goodman said.

No word yet when the film will begin production.
