The Word: Eddie Cibrian back to being unemployed
Out of all the couples I write about, the one I don’t understand the tabloid fascination with is Eddie Cibrian and Leann Rimes. I mean, I know how they got together was kind of sordid (he reportedly left his wife for Rimes and now Rimes is so skinny she resembles more of a femur than a human being) but hey, show me a couple in Hollywood who didn’t get together under shady circumstances, and I will show you a lie. I guess the point is: They seem rather low-level for our current fascination with them, right?
But now we actually know who Eddie Cibrian is, it’s a bummer to announce that his NBC show, “The Playboy Club,” has been canceled after only three episodes due to low ratings. “Rock Center with Brian Williams,” a prime time newsmagazine, will replace it. The show will feature Harry Smith, Kate Snow, Meredith Vieira, Dr. Nancy Snyderman, Richard Engel, Matt Lauer, Ann Curry and of course, Williams.
And while I always knew Brian Williams was a stone-cold fox (don’t even get me started on Harry Smith); it’s a beautiful world if they’ll get more viewers than a bunch of scantily clad women in Playboy Bunny uniforms.
DiCaprio, Lively split
Us Weekly is reporting that fledging couple Blake Lively and Leonardo DiCaprio have parted ways after five months of dating. Reps for both stars confirm the pair will “remain friends.”
There was no reason given for the separation. But I’ll guess it’s because of the age-old fact that relationships end in two ways: Either you break up or you get married. And maybe, just maybe, these two were smart enough to know it’s a really, really bad idea to get married in Hollywood.
