The Word: Chris Brown has an awful new pickup line
Here’s the thing about Chris Brown and The Word: Yes, he brutally beat his then-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009. But the man served the sentence our judicial system thought was fair, and so he should be allowed to get on with his life and music without a stupid gossip columnist dredging it up all the time. It’s my opinion that we all know he’s a cowardly woman-beater. Do with that information what you will.
Except the idiot continues to open his big mouth and make jokes about domestic violence and so, sorry, I can’t drop it: According to Us Weekly, Brown has a totally romantic new pickup line. A woman tells the magazine that Brown approached her on Feb. 10 at the Grammy gift lounge to ask for her number.
“Can I get your number? I promise I won’t beat you,” the woman said Brown told her.
“He and his friends laughed, then one yelled, ‘That’s his new line!’” she said. “I wanted to throw up.”
There are many ways I would like to respond to this stupid, hurtful and awful running “joke” of Brown’s, but I don’t have the space. I’ll just say: It is my sincere hope that one day Chris Brown gives birth to a daughter and maybe, just maybe, he will feel sick at the thought of any man raising his hand to her. And then he will finally realize just what a terrible thing he did in his past and will finally know that making flippant asides about beating women is not OK.
But somehow, even then I don’t think he’ll get it.
Bobby Brown not banned from Houston funeral
The rumors that Bobby Brown might not be on the invite list for ex-wife Whitney Houston’s funeral on Saturday are “totally untrue,” a family source tells People. “He is not being banned. That’s completely untrue.” Another family friend tells the magazine: “Bobby will be there at the funeral to support his [and Houston’s] daughter [Bobbi Kristina Brown, 18]. There was some talk … some people were angry at him, but that’s just grief. He will be there.”
