Cronut craze travels to South Korean Dunkin’ Donuts

Dunkin' Donuts in South Korea have started selling the croissant donut hybrid pastry.
Dunkin’ Donuts in South Korea have started selling the croissant donut hybrid pastry.

It seems like New Yorkers aren’t the only ones going through a Cronut craze. We’ve all heard about the obsession with Dominique Ansel’s croissant-donut hybrid and the people who camp out at 6 a.m. for a chance to buy a fresh-baked Cronut.

The obsession for the pastry has crossed international boundaries. The New York Pie Doughnut, a Cronut spinoff, is now available in select Dunkin’ Donut location in South Korea.

The New York Pie Doughnut launched this past weekend in Seoul and, just like in New York, people have been lining up to try it. Much like the quantity restrictions put on Ansel’s bakery, South Koreans will only be able to purchase two pastries at a time.

According to Eater, Dunkin’ Donuts has no plans to introduce the pie donut to the United States.
