Editor’s pick: New Van’s crackers

The Perfect Ten Medium

We’ve found some tasty new contenders to combat the dreaded 3 p.m. slump.

Van’s Natural Foods recently expanded its offerings of whole grain, gluten-free snack bars, cereals and crackers (we love the Cinnamon Heaven Cereal.) Added to the lineup are two new cracker choices: The Perfect 10 and Fire Roasted Veggie. We left both out in our cubicles and weren’t surprised how quickly Metro’s editorial team kept coming back for seconds.

The Perfect 10 Crackers contain six whole grains, including brown rice, gluten-free oats, millet, teff, quinoa and amaranth, plus four seeds” flax, sesame, poppy and caraway. That’s a whole lot of ancient grains (valued for their nutritional properties) in one cracker.

The Fire Roasted Veggie Crackers contain five whole grains and are flavored with bell pepper, carrot, onion, garlic and tomato. Both the Perfect 10 and Fire Roasted Veggie crackers are larger than the other Van’s crackers on store shelves now. Both products are $3.29 at Wal-Mart stores.

Also new to the Van’s line is a snack-size pack of its popular Say Cheese! Crackers, which remind us of Cheez-Its. They’re $3.99 per box, also available at Wal-Mart.
